Ok, so I haven't posted anything for a ridiculous length of time - I keep starting posts, but available time to actually write seems to have been limited of late. Especially time when I'm awake and able to check my spelling or to convey anything remotely deep and meaningful. So, no grand ideas here. Just a few Christmas biscuits with my girls.
One: Make biscuit dough with a daughter dressed as a butterfly:
We used this recipe:
125g butter
100g caster sugar
1 egg
200g plain flour + a teaspoon of baking powder
zest of 2 lemons
2 teaspoons of cinnamon (ok, that's a lie, I just chucked a bunch in)
Cream the butter, beat in the sugar followed by the cinnamon and lemon zest then mix in the flour and baking powder. Then wrap in clingfilm and bung it in the fridge for an hour or so or until you have time to roll it out and make biscuits.
Two: Roll out the dough and cut out some Christmassy shapes. I might have found a tiny glass of sherry to make the baking more Christmassy - a tiny glass of orange squash was requested by the curly haired helper.
Three: Bake! I realised I was never going to find time to ice the biscuits so we sprinkled them with cinnamon and sugar before they went in the oven. And then it was time for a bit of a dance party.
Christmas post done. Happy festive baking everyone (these biscuits are yummy btw)
